Difference Between Sections and Containers

When working with Elementor to build your WordPress site with our theme, it’s essential to understand the distinctions between Sections and Containers. Both are fundamental elements used to structure and design your pages, but they serve different purposes and offer unique functionalities.

Sections:

  • Definition: Sections are the top-level building blocks in Elementor. They act as the primary containers for grouping multiple columns and widgets.
  • Functionality: Sections help in dividing the page into major horizontal areas. Each section can contain multiple columns, which can further hold widgets and other elements.
  • Usage: Use sections to create broad, overarching areas of your page, such as headers, footers, or large content blocks. They are useful for organizing content in a structured manner.

Containers:

  • Definition: Containers, introduced in Elementor’s Flexbox Container system, are more flexible and versatile than traditional sections. They allow for advanced layout designs and responsive controls.
  • Functionality: Containers can be used within sections to create more complex layouts. They offer greater control over the arrangement of columns and widgets, thanks to Flexbox-based alignment and distribution options.
  • Usage: Containers are ideal for creating intricate designs that require precise control over spacing and alignment. They provide enhanced flexibility for responsive design, making them suitable for modern, dynamic layouts.

Tip

It’s helpful to know that …

While both sections and containers are crucial for page layout in Elementor, sections are best for broad organizational purposes, whereas containers offer advanced layout options and flexibility. Understanding how to effectively use both can significantly enhance your WordPress site’s design and functionality.
